SUMMARY:Open Auditions! Presented by PPI: Seven Keys to Baldpate | November 19th & 23rd 2024
DESCRIPTION:Come out and audition and experience the fun of community theater! \nIn this melodramatic mystery\, Novelist Magee has made a bet that they can write a ten-thousand-word story in just 24 hours with the owner of Baldpate Inn. (A lonely summer resort atop a mountain in the dead of winter.) To accomplish this task\, Magee retires to Baldpate to be alone. Given the ONLY key to Baldpate from the local caretakers Magee locks themselves into the resort\, not to be disturbed by anyone. Throughout the night they are visited by a succession of mysterious characters\, including a corrupt politician\, a ghost\, a feisty reporter\, a police chief and a gang of criminals. It appears there is more than meets the eye to Baldpate Inn…\n\nSeven Keys to Baldpate is a fun-filled romp filled with laughs\, gunshots\, and a clash of interesting characters.

SUMMARY:PPI Presents: The Diviners by Jim Leonard Jr. | Sunday | November 17th 2024
DESCRIPTION:When C.C. Showers\, a back-sliding preacher\, leaves the pulpit in Kentucky that he’s inherited from his forefathers and sets out to find an honest living for himself\, he ends up in the tiny town of Zion\, Indiana. He finds a job\, and a place to lay his head\, in the home of widowed mechanic\, Ferris Layman. The locals of Zion welcome Showers with suspicion\, curiosity\, and ultimately joy – the town has been without a preacher for many years\, and the religious townswomen know that Showers has been sent by the Lord to bring the word of God and build the church anew. Showers rebuffs the town’s efforts to set him up in their non-existent pulpit\, and focuses his attentions on the mechanic\, and his son and daughter. Showers begins to think he can do some good as a friend to Buddy\, a wild and innocent young man with a disturbed mind and some uncanny abilities. The death of his mother by drowning\, and his own near-death\, have given Buddy a powerful fear of water\, even as a mysterious aquatic affinity gives him powers as a “water witch”\, with the ability to divine wells and predict the rain. Showers’ makes it his mission to calm Buddy’s fears and reintroduce him to water as a friend. The former preacher tries to keep Buddy’s feet on the ground and heal him with the simple earthly magic of soap and water\, but when the hopes of the townsfolk become involved\, the line between bath and baptism becomes blurred\, and tragedy inevitably strikes. Jim Leonard Jr.’s The Diviners is a luminous story of religion and magic\, faith and doubt\, love and grief. This comedic drama features a strong ensemble of well-rounded friends and neighbors\, the well-intentioned denizens of a small town in search of its past\, and uncertain of its future. \nBecome a member and get $5 off your ticket price! JOIN HERE!

SUMMARY:Musicale @ The Maizie | Joe Kaplow | Greg Gilmore | Friday | September 27th 2024
DESCRIPTION:Headliner Joe Kaplow’s music comes from life’s moments — smelling 4 acres of freshly cut  grass\, watching the steam from a horse’s breath in the early morning\,  finally holding the neck of a guitar after holding bridles and worn wooden handles all day. 4000 acres of freshly burnt wildfire\, watching the steam from the Pacific Ocean’s breath in the early morning\, finally holding the neck of a guitar after clutching the worn steering wheel of a tour van all day. Joe’s aim is simple; slow  and steady; keep it fun\, and stay engaged. All for the moment when the song  finally sounds right.\n\nOpening act Greg Gilmore is a bit like a caption of a time gone\, but not forgotten. A self-taught\, nationally touring troubadour bearing a self-lit torch informed by the rock’n’roll and songwriting days of yore. With influences from Dylan to Willie\, Petty to Orbison\, Gilmore attempts to apply his own kindling to a smoldering flame. While he would never utter it himself\, some have called Gilmore the Earnest Hemingway of songwriting. Not because of his keen sense of prose\, rather you can generally spot him with a pen in one hand and a drink in the other.\n\n\nDoors open at 6:30 | Show begins at 7pm | Arrive through the Artisan Gallery entrance of the Brewery building | All Ages Welcomed

DESCRIPTION:Once a month the Maizie Theater hosts rising stars in the songwriting world from both near and far. Friday April 5th features Jessica Malone with opening act Haley Bond. \nWith northern California roots\, singer-songwriter Jessica Malone blends soulful lyrics with sultry sounds that seem to illuminate the landscape itself\, her voice guiding you across terrain at once folk\, jazz\, Americana\, and blues. This award-winning songstress\, who holds a BA in Vocal Performance\, has played a multitude of festivals including Napa Earth\, Davis Music\, and BottleRock\, performed on stages as prominent as the Harris Center Three Stages and the Mondavi Center\, and opened for the likes of John Paul White and Front Country. Bond’s songwriting instincts are spot-on\, earning her the 2022 accolade of finalist in the Great American Song Contest for the song\, “Across the Desert Sky.” Her vocals\, both silky and powerful\, lift the well-crafted lyrics\, handling booming anthem rock songs as well as introspective ballads. SUMMARY:Musicale @ The Maizie | Wolf Creek Boys | Will Houk | Friday | February 9th 2024
DESCRIPTION:Once a month the Maizie Theater hosts rising stars in the songwriting world from both near and far. Friday February 9th features The Wolf Creek Boys with opening act Will Houk.\n\nWolf Creek Boys are an acoustic duo proudly hailing from Grass Valley\, CA; comprised of brothers Mathew and Jerry Sena. Their focus on honest songwriting\, as well as a sound that blends Americana influences with their upbringing in the Sierra Nevada foothills\, has continued to grow both their live and recorded presence on the west coast music scene. \n\n\nWill Houk is a roots musician whose soulful melodies and authentic sound resonate with the rich traditions of folk\, blues\, and Americana. Born and raised in Northern Nevada\, Will discovered a profound connection to music at an early age\, drawing inspiration from the musical tapestry of his surroundings. With a deep appreciation for the roots of American music\, he skillfully weaves together elements of folk storytelling\, bluesy rhythms\, and the heartfelt sincerity of Americana. Drawing on the natural beauty of the setting of rural Nevada\, his music blends poignant lyrics with a sense of space in the rugged and desolate high desert landscape. \n\nDoors open at 6:30 | Show begins at 7pm | Arrive through the Exhibition Hall entrance of the Brewery Building | All Ages Welcomed
