Our Public Art
We use our campus, unique facilities and public art as a placemaking platform on which successful community economic development and historic preservation happen. Through our projects and events we have rekindled a sense of place and civic attachment to our campus and community. We have re-defined ourselves as not only a place for art and culture but also a place for community engagement, growth and knowledge.
STRINGS OF IMAGINATION by Bryce Chisolm
This mural was commissioned and funded by the Carson City Downtown Business Association in 2017 and has become one of the most photographed spots in Carson City. The girl in the mural is inspired by Bryce’s daughter and the musical notes coming off the dandelion are the beginning of “Imagine” by John Lennon.
BREWER’S MURAL
Originally done in 1995 by J. Hunt and restored in 2019 by Deana Hoover. This mural depicts the famous Millard family that ran the Carson Brewery Company at the turn of the century. Restoration was funded in 2019 by the AARP Community Action Grant.
ABBY ROAD by Deana Hoover
When the Brewery Arts Center was deeded the section of Minnesota Street between the two campus buildings, we celebrated by commissioning artist Deana Hoover to re-create the famous Abby Road photograph of the Beatles.
CLEANSING THE SOUL by Diana Uzell
Created in 2020 and inspired by Picasso and the request to do “something Banksy”.
HARMONY SCULPTURE PARK
An all ability musical instrument park for all ages funded by The Change Companies, Nevada Division or Tourism and the John and Grace Nauman Foundation.
ASCENSION
A one of a kind work from Bryce Chisholm, this art on the Performance Hall steps is already a favorite for photographers.
