SUMMARY:Young Authors Academy: Become a Real-Life Book Boss | Two Week Course | Begins Monday\, June 8th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Ever dreamed of being a famous author… but like\, actually holding your own book in your hands? (Not just scribbling “Chapter 1” on a napkin and calling it a masterpiece?) \nIn this super-creative class\, kids 8–12 team up with a real professional writer (that’s me—no ghostwriters here!) to write and illustrate their VERY OWN original book. We’re talking epic adventures\, hilarious mishaps\, talking animals who roast their owners\, or whatever wild idea pops into your brain. \nYou’ll craft the story\, draw the pictures (stick figures with personality count!)\, design a killer cover that screams “bestseller\,” and even add a fancy “About the Author” bio on the back flap (perfect for bragging about your pet goldfish or your world-record sock collection). We’ll finish it off with proper binding so it looks like it belongs on a real bookshelf… because it does! \nThe grand finale? A legit book signing party where you’ll autograph copies for family\, friends\, and maybe even that one kid who said your ideas were “weird” (spoiler: weird is awesome). \nNo experience needed—just bring your imagination\, a sense of humor\, and maybe some snacks (inspiration works better with cookies). Warning: side effects may include uncontrollable giggles\, sudden plot twists at dinner time\, and parents begging to read your book before bedtime. \nSpots are limited—because legends-in-the-making can’t all fit in one room! Sign up now and let’s turn your wildest stories into bound books that future you will still be proud of. \nThis is a two week course taking place from 9am to 12:30pm on Monday June 8th\, Tuesday June 9th\, Friday June 12th\, Monday June 15th\, and Tuesday June 16th with the book signing event on Thursday\, June 18th at 7pm. \nAcademy is $95 (including the published best seller\, of course!)\, with $35 owed to the instructor for supplies on the first day of class.

SUMMARY:C5 presents: The Dystopian Skyline | Blade Runner (1982) | Thursday | June 25th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Towering cityscapes. Flickering neon. Futures shaped by power\, technology\, and inequality. The Dystopian Skyline explores how filmmakers have imagined urban futures where progress comes at a cost—and humanity is forced to reckon with the worlds it builds. \nWe’ll begin with a striking clip from Metropolis (1927)\, Fritz Lang’s silent-era masterpiece that introduced cinema to the towering\, mechanized city as a symbol of social division and industrial excess. That vision echoes forward into Blade Runner (1982)\, Ridley Scott’s genre-defining neo-noir sci-fi epic\, where rain-soaked streets and glowing skylines frame haunting questions about identity\, memory\, and what it truly means to be human. \nIt’s sure to be a a visually apealing and thought-provoking night that traces the evolution of dystopian worlds—from silent cinema to cyberpunk—and examines why these dark futures continue to reflect our deepest hopes and fears about the present. \nDoors open at 7\, show starts at 7:30pm. \nBecome an Ally member of the Brewery Arts Center and enjoy all the films we show for FREE! \n Join Today!

SUMMARY:C5 presents: Truth\, Justice\, and the Blockbuster Way | Superman: The Movie (1978) | Thursday | August 27th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Before cinematic universes ruled the box office\, one hero taught Hollywood how to make audiences believe a man could fly. Truth\, Justice\, and the Blockbuster Way celebrates the rise of the modern superhero film—and the moment when spectacle\, sincerity\, and mythmaking collided on the big screen. \nWe’ll begin with Superman: “The Mad Scientist” (1941)\, a thrilling Fleischer Studios animated short that set a new standard for superhero animation with its dynamic action\, cinematic scale\, and groundbreaking visuals. SUMMARY:C5 presents: Before Time and Back Again! | Back to the Future (1985) | Thursday | September 24th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Long before DeLoreans hit 88 miles per hour\, cinema was already dreaming up ways to bend time\, revisit the past\, and imagine impossible worlds. Before Time… and Back Again! pairs an early special-effects marvel with one of the most beloved time-travel adventures ever put on screen. \nWe’ll begin with The Ghost of Slumber Mountain (1918)\, a groundbreaking silent short that amazed early audiences with its stop-motion dinosaurs and imaginative storytelling—offering one of cinema’s earliest glimpses at bringing the distant past to life through visual effects. SUMMARY:C5 presents: Foundations of Fear | Psycho (1960) | Friday | October 30th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Before slashers\, jump scares\, and modern horror tropes\, filmmakers were already learning how to frighten audiences with shadows\, suggestion\, and the power of the unknown. Foundations of Fear traces the origins of cinematic terror—from its earliest trick films to one of the most shocking and influential thrillers ever made. \nWe’ll begin with The Haunted Castle (1896)\, one of the earliest horror films in history. This short silent fantasy used stage magic\, visual effects\, and eerie imagery to prove that cinema itself could be a tool for fear. That legacy reaches its chilling peak with Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960)\, a landmark film that shattered audience expectations\, redefined suspense\, and forever changed how horror stories are told on screen. \nJoin C5: Carson Classic Cinema Club for a spine-tingling October screening that explores how fear was born in cinema—and how it evolved into something unforgettable. Lock the doors\, dim the lights\, and prepare for the foundations of fear. \nDoors open at 7\, show starts at 7:30pm. \nBecome an Ally member of the Brewery Arts Center and enjoy all the films we show for FREE! \n Join Today!
