SUMMARY:After School Art Class - October/December
DESCRIPTION:Ages 7-13. Tuesdays 3:30-5:30 (No Class Oct. 31 or Nov. 21) with instructor – Lee Netzle \nStudents start with drawing\, first choosing from a file of reference pictures of various subject matter. They learn to study the picture they have chosen determining the size of the drawing\, the shapes involved and the placement of one part to another. \nThey then go on to paint their drawing. The students will work with three different paint mediums – water color\, acrylic and pastel. They will learn the application process of each medium along with the mixing\, lightening\, and darkening of the colors. \nStudents will follow instructions and be given freedom to express their individuality – Sometimes with very interesting results.

SUMMARY:Murus: Dividers Unite: Group Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The word mural is derived from the Latin word murus\, meaning wall. Walls were used as dividers\, especially in Roman times. Early graffiti artists were looked down upon for defacing and destroying property. Today\, muralists around the world enhance neighborhoods with their craft and we are thrilled to celebrate them in Carson City. \nGet to know the muralists more intimately by exploring canvas and mixed media pieces from the 25 participating festival artists. \nJoin for a special reception and meet the artists in person on Thursday September 28 from 6-8pm. \nThis exhibition also features University Libraries “Reno Street Art VR” – Wearing a VR headset\, users can experience over 100 different 360 video locations of street art including an interactive map of Reno and immersive vignettes from local muralists. \n$10 suggested donation | $5 suggested donation for seniors/students
