SUMMARY:4 Week Sculptural Workshop | Saturdays | April 6th-27th 2024
DESCRIPTION:This workshop led by master sculptor Debbie Corona will demonstrate the hand building technique of creating relief tiles\, which means raised surface. Like the previous vessel workshop\, the relief tile has been around a long time dating back to about 4000BC. They served 2 main purposes; to cover surfaces and for storytelling. They have evolved over time and are still being used in both forms today as well as for decoration. Students will be creating a wall piece using 4 tiles that when put together make a whole piece. We will be using metal rings to “attach” as well as a hanging mechanism at the top. We will be using a variety of relief or raised surfaces for this project. Students will create through visual demonstrations.  \nStudents will need to provide their own apron or work clothes. Ceramics can be rather messy\, closed toes shoes and lidded water bottles need to be used. All other supplies and materials will be provided.  \nImage shown is for example only. \nSession times 2-5pm:\nSession 1 – April 6th Building/Creating\nSession 2 – April 13th Finish Creating\nSession 3 – April 20th Glazing\nSession 4 – April 27th Impromptu Critique and Pick Up Work\n(Bring a light refreshment to share and your own drink) \nRegistration fee includes all materials/supplies/tools\, both bisque and glaze firings\n$20 studio usage fee to be paid on first day of class

SUMMARY:Musicale @ The Maizie | Jessica Malone | Haley Bond | Friday | April 5th 2024
DESCRIPTION:Once a month the Maizie Theater hosts rising stars in the songwriting world from both near and far. Friday April 5th features Jessica Malone with opening act Haley Bond. \nWith northern California roots\, singer-songwriter Jessica Malone blends soulful lyrics with sultry sounds that seem to illuminate the landscape itself\, her voice guiding you across terrain at once folk\, jazz\, Americana\, and blues. This award-winning songstress\, who holds a BA in Vocal Performance\, has played a multitude of festivals including Napa Earth\, Davis Music\, and BottleRock\, performed on stages as prominent as the Harris Center Three Stages and the Mondavi Center\, and opened for the likes of John Paul White and Front Country. Described as\, “the real deal\,” by Nat Keefe of Hot Buttered Rum\, her tone a blend of Nicki Bluhm\, Joni Mitchell\, and a magic all her own.  Malone recently released two new singles “Sweet Sunlight” and “Bloom” and  has new music on the way. \nHaley Bond is an eclectic indie songwriter that delivers captivating\, sometimes gritty and often life-inspiring original music. Bond’s songwriting instincts are spot-on\, earning her the 2022 accolade of finalist in the Great American Song Contest for the song\, “Across the Desert Sky.” Her vocals\, both silky and powerful\, lift the well-crafted lyrics\, handling booming anthem rock songs as well as introspective ballads. With the melodically oriented and epic sound\, the heart is sent into a world of intrigue\, moving from hauntingly heartfelt to the tribal and rebellious. Haley’s siren sound pulls the listener into her world and wholly enraptures\, allowing the concert experience to seem like it is somehow aloft. \nDoors open at 6:30 | Show begins at 7pm | Arrive through the Exhibition Hall | All Ages Welcomed
