DESCRIPTION:Once a month the Maizie Harris Jesse Theater hosts rising stars in the songwriting world from both near and far. Friday January 5th features Mel & Gia with opening act Tyler Stafford.\n\nMel Wade and Gia Torcaso began playing as a duo in Reno\, Nevada in 2012. Their collaboration is the meshing of two completely different sounds; with Mel coming from a folk background and Gia coming from a bass-player mentality of rock\, hip hop\, and pop music. The intertwining of their songwriting\, instrumentation\, and harmonies results in a gorgeous Americana vibe that stays easy on the ears while pulling at your heartstrings. \n\n\nArmed with an acoustic guitar and a voice that will stop you mid step\, Tyler Stafford is one songwriter and performer you do not want to miss. He is known for his smooth guitar playing\, instantly memorable melodies and poetic lyrics that range in subject matter from personal relationships to socially conscious commentary that will have you humming along from the first listen.
