SUMMARY:Literature in the Digital Age | Scott Neuffer & Dani Putney | Friday | May 10th 2024
DESCRIPTION:Gardnerville journalist and editor Scott Neuffer joins Reno poet Dani Putney to discuss literature in the Digital Age\, from Twainian observations on social media to the advent of online literary magazines and new spaces for underrepresented writers. \nGardnerville journalist and editor Scott Neuffer and Reno poet Dani Putney are Northern Nevada literary pals who have worked together before\, including at the digital magazine trampset that was founded by Neuffer in 2017. The online literary magazine draws global editors\, contributors and readers\, many connected through social media and other platforms. \nNeuffer will discuss literature in the digital age: publishing nonfiction\, fiction and poetry online and the sometimes strange intersection between writing and social media. He’ll cover the internet’s most popular literary form—flash—and help anyone interested in finding online journals to submit to. \nPutney will speak on intersectionality and how the internet has brought together writers and readers from different walks of life. The Digital Age has seen an explosion of online literary magazines. Putney will explore the digital literary landscape and its effects on historically marginalized authors. \nThis event is free to the public.
