This year’s festival artists will add to the 23 murals created during the inaugural festival in 2023. \n\n\nLocal\, national and international artists will create murals in public spaces around Carson City. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet artists as they create their murals over the three three-day festival\, including Jabi Corte from Spain; Priscilla Aldana G. (Prism) from Mexico; Charly Malpass from Truckee\, California; Gregg Deal from the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and others. \n\n\nA complete list of participating artists\, their murals\, and the locations will be available online. \n\n\n“I am excited to be paired with my long-time friends and family from the Brewery Arts Center to create magic on their campus\,” said Edwin “Esco” Martinez\, a participating artist based in Reno\, Nevada. “I’m painting native imagery that represents diversity\, unity\, community\, and love for the Eagle Valley. I’m excited to reunite and meet everyone involved in this year’s Murals & Music festival. See you all in the Capital City!” \n\n\nThe murals from 2023’s festival serve as a permanent outdoor art gallery. The murals painted during the 2024 festival will expand Carson City’s accessible public art for all to enjoy. \n\n\n“The Brewery Arts Center campus is privileged to offer hundreds of year-round experiences\, but our commitment to the community extends far beyond the walls\,” said Spike McGuire\, executive director of the Brewery Arts Center. “BAC believes wholeheartedly in the benefits to both economics and mental health that can be brought by barrier-free access to public art. From Ely to Elko and Reno to Fernely\, the transformative power of mural culture has become a point of pride in Nevada’s artistic heritage and we are happy to uphold the capital city’s duty to reflect that.” \n\n\nNightly musical performances will also be available\, including a headlining performance from Mike Clark & The Sugar Sounds on the outdoor stage at the Brewery Arts Center on Saturday\, Sept. 28. Festival goers can also participate in hands-on art experiences painting at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada and creating with clay at Ogres-Holm Pottery. A full schedule of events will be available online. \n\n\n“We look forward to continuing to expand Carson City’s public displays of artistry and creativity through the annual Murals & Music Festival\,” said Eric Brooks\, arts and culture program manager for Visit Carson City. “We’re thrilled to invite visitors from across the region to meet and engage with the artists and experience the city as an arts and culture destination.” \n\n\nBrewery Arts Center\, Visit Carson City and Carson City Parks\, Recreation\, and Open Space are partnering to produce the festival as a public art campaign that aligns with the city’s 2022-26 Arts and Culture Strategic Plan. Generously supported by Visit Carson City\, Nevada Arts Council\, community organizations\, local businesses and private donations\, the festival is free and open to visitors of all ages. \n\n\nCarson City’s museums and galleries provide opportunities to experience vibrant art year-round and connect people to the rich history and culture of the region.
