SUMMARY:Being Creative with Ceramic Clay | Session 3 | 5 Week Series | Thursdays | Beginning April 16th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Session 3 is a continuation of our creative series clay class. In this workshop we will explore the sculptural side of hand building through 2 engaging projects. The first will be a demonstrative piece to get your creativity flowing and the second piece will be student choice. We will go over sculptural practices the first day of class and there will be many options to choose from for the students’ choice.\n\nIf you didn’t join us for the first 2 workshops and you have experience please consider joining us. This will be an engaging\, fun and creative clay class that you’re sure to learn from and come away with an amazing sculpture and a new appreciation for 3 dimensional art. The examples shown are just that\, examples of what’s possible.\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor\, Deborah Mae Corona:\nAs a sculptural artist\, I enjoy the process from the initial concept to the finished piece and the evolution that inevitably occurs during the making. I have had the extreme pleasure of being mentored by world class artists like Eric Blome\, Anne Stryke and Wanxin Zhang to name a few\, whom I credit with the trajectory of my career. I received my master’s of fine art from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. In a city with a history rich and diverse in both art and culture taught me that skills are important but so is the intuitive aspect that comes from years of practice. It is ingrained that an artist’s job is to interpret the world around them\, but more important is that art is a universal language that the viewer doesn’t need to necessarily know or speak that the art should speak for itself. With that mindset\, I strive to impart that  wisdom through my teaching. Art is invaluable\, it matters and that’s my goal.\n\n\n\nDates\, times and fees are a follows:\n\nApril 16\, 23\, 30\, May 7 and 14\nThese classes will be on Thursday’s from 5:30 – 9:30pm\nThe first 3 classes will be building and May 7th will be the glazing class.\n\n***Saturday April 25th will be a make-up – catch-up class which you will need to sign up for and is included in the price of this workshop.\n\nThe last class period 5/14 will be the final critique and picking up your completed work. This final class will be approx. an hour.\n\nThe cost for this class is $150 and includes all materials\, instruction and firings to complete the projects. A $20 lab fee will be collected the first day of class to the instructor.

DESCRIPTION:Create your own masterpieces in this open-ended art experience. If you’ve ever dreamed of working on an artistic project—whether it’s painting\, graphite\, pen and ink\, or even incorporating two- and three-dimensional textures or objects into your work of art—this is the workshop for you. This is a series of 4 workshops to give you the time and space to create your vision.\n\nOver the course of the past nearly 30 years\, Dana Childs has guided\, taught\, and facilitated courses and workshops that have helped produce professional artists as well as encouraged hobbyists to have the time of their lives and enjoy feeling successful. You can free the artist within you with as much or as little influence from outside as you desire. Weekly demonstrations serve to introduce or review basic art and design concepts\, as well as experimental strategies. You can either follow along or continue to work on your own project during the demonstrations. DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nStep into the intimate\, magnified world of Georgia O’Keeffe\, where flowers become vast landscapes of color\, form\, and quiet  mystery. In this immersive watercolor workshop\, we channel the iconic American modernist by recreating one of her celebrated iris visions—focusing on the luminous purples\, velvety depths\, and elegant ruffles of an iris  bloom (inspired by works like Light of Iris (1924) and her ethereal purple-toned irises). O’Keeffe once said she painted flowers large “so that people would take time to look at  them.” Through guided instruction\, you’ll do just that: slow down\, observe deeply\, and  translate the flower’s lovely curves and subtle shifts in light into translucent watercolor  layers.  \nDana Childs seeks to inspire painters as well as inform and encourage them. She works  to gently encourage them\, while offering constructive suggestions based upon solid  technique and artistic concepts. Childs loose and interpretive style is infectious and will  spark the artist within you. (Not just scribbling “Chapter 1” on a napkin and calling it a masterpiece?) \nIn this super-creative class\, kids 8–12 team up with a real professional writer (that’s me—no ghostwriters here!) to write and illustrate their VERY OWN original book. We’re talking epic adventures\, hilarious mishaps\, talking animals who roast their owners\, or whatever wild idea pops into your brain. \nYou’ll craft the story\, draw the pictures (stick figures with personality count!)\, design a killer cover that screams “bestseller\,” and even add a fancy “About the Author” bio on the back flap (perfect for bragging about your pet goldfish or your world-record sock collection). We’ll finish it off with proper binding so it looks like it belongs on a real bookshelf… because it does! \nThe grand finale?
