SUMMARY:Hollow Mountain Workshops: Where Curiosity Becomes Capability | April 27th thru May 30th 2026
DESCRIPTION:We believe that kids and teens have deep capacities for empathy\, intelligence\, and critical thinking\, but they are being hindered by factors like excessive screen time\, social isolation\, a lack of opportunities for growth\, and a disconnect not only from community but responsibilities to their community. \nKids need spaces where they can build and develop not just cool hobbies and academic skills\, but where they can dig deep into themselves to find truth and meaning. The concept of a Hollow Mountain comes right from our Comstock traditions: digging into the mountain to unearth the value that already exists within. \nVisit hollowmountainworkshops.org for more info!

SUMMARY:Art with Dana Childs | Channeling Georgia | Saturday | May 23rd 2026
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nStep into the intimate\, magnified world of Georgia O’Keeffe\, where flowers become vast landscapes of color\, form\, and quiet  mystery. In this immersive watercolor workshop\, we channel the iconic American modernist by recreating one of her celebrated iris visions—focusing on the luminous purples\, velvety depths\, and elegant ruffles of an iris  bloom (inspired by works like Light of Iris (1924) and her ethereal purple-toned irises). O’Keeffe once said she painted flowers large “so that people would take time to look at  them.” Through guided instruction\, you’ll do just that: slow down\, observe deeply\, and  translate the flower’s lovely curves and subtle shifts in light into translucent watercolor  layers.  \nDana Childs seeks to inspire painters as well as inform and encourage them. She works  to gently encourage them\, while offering constructive suggestions based upon solid  technique and artistic concepts. Childs loose and interpretive style is infectious and will  spark the artist within you. She has developed a strong sense for reading her students  after 28+ years of teaching watercolor painting and other forms of media. You can  learn more and view her art at www.dlauren.org.

SUMMARY:Road to Terminus: The Art of Candance Garlock | Artist Reception | Saturday | May 23rd 2026 | FREE
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates – May 10th thru June 28th 2026 \n“My Road to Terminus Collection embodies the endless journey of arrivals and departures—an ongoing loop of radical acceptance that shapes my life and work. Inspired initially by the idea of terminus as a railroad’s last stop\, and further colored by pop culture references such as “The Walking Dead\,” I explore notions of sanctuary\, survival\, and the search for community in an apocalyptic world. Through paintings\, prints\, and sculptures\, I equate terminus to the end of days\, revealing that the journey is never truly finished. This sense of perpetual motion infuses my exploration of interconnectedness among people\, places\, and bodies. I draw on my Nevada upbringing for visual language—vibrant colors\, layered patterns\, and symbolic references that mark both home and emotional landscape. \nLiving with multiple sclerosis has further deepened my understanding of acceptance and transformation. The Road to Terminus is not only a concept in my work but a reflection of my personal journey through vulnerability\, pain\, and hope. Each piece examines desire\, stereotypes\, and identity\, engaging viewers in a dialogue about belonging and the beauty found within our shared struggles and triumphs. Ultimately\, my art seeks to inspire connection and radical acceptance\, inviting others to find the sanctuary and relationships they most desire—even when the path is treacherous.”
