The word mural is derived from the Latin word murus, meaning wall. Walls were used as dividers, especially in Roman times. Early graffiti artists were looked down upon for defacing and destroying property. Today, muralists around the world enhance neighborhoods with their craft and we are thrilled to celebrate them in Carson City.
Get to know the muralists more intimately by exploring canvas and mixed media pieces from the 25 participating festival artists.
Join for a special reception and meet the artists in person on Thursday September 28 from 6-8pm.
This exhibition also features University Libraries “Reno Street Art VR” – Wearing a VR headset, users can experience over 100 different 360 video locations of street art including an interactive map of Reno and immersive vignettes from local muralists.
