4 Week Sculptural Workshop by Master Sculptor Debbie Corona

This workshop will demonstrate the hand building and subtractive technique of sculpting the reclining figure. Students will create through visual demonstrations. The reclining figure has played a prominent role in art history from Titian and Georgione. The master of the reclining figure is Henry Moore. His figures were often abstracted and drew parallels between the figure and the natural landscapes. There’s symbolic meanings and predominately female figures being depicted. Artists have used the reclining figure throughout time to explore the curves and form of the female anatomy. For the purposes of this workshop, we will sculpt using the subtractive method initially and then fine tuning through adding clay were needed. This will be taught through auditory and visual demonstrations in a sculpt along with the instructor manner. The examples below are just that, examples. We will be sculpting a similar female reclining figure .

Students will need to provide their own apron or work clothes. Ceramics can be rather messy, closed toes shoes and lidded water bottles need to be used. All other supplies and materials will be provided.
