This workshop lead by master sculptor Debbie Corona will demonstrate the hand building technique of using coils to create a vessel. Vessels hold a historical significance. Early civilizations created the clay “pot” when they went from a nomadic lifestyle to an agrarian culture. These pots were not only used for cooking and storing but were also one of the earliest forms of artistic and emotional expression. Students will create a vessel that’s approximately 12-14” in height, each one will be uniquely different and there will be many choices for final surface treatment. Students will create through visual demonstrations and examples will be present.

Students will need to provide their own apron or work clothes. Ceramics can be rather messy,
closed toes shoes and lidded water bottles need to be used. All other supplies and materials will
be provided.
