Proscenium Players, Inc. The PPI Board would like to thank you for your continued support of our wonderful group over the past year. 2011-2012 has been a very active year for PPI. In December we returned to the Brewery Arts Center with the production of “A Tuna Christmas.” It was great to light up the Maizie Harris-Jesse Theater with a production directed by one of PPI’s founders, Ms. Maizie Harris-Jesse herself. The cast had a great time and the staff at the BAC was absolutely wonderful to work with.

Our next production took us to the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino for six performances of our 3rd Annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater production titled “Dealt a Deadly Hand – Murder at the Carson City Casino Royale.” These production’s have been very successful each year and the staff at the Gold Dust West have been marvelous to our group, performers, and patrons. We are already looking forward to the next murder mystery production with the Gold Dust West.

Currently in rehearsal is PPI’s next production to be held at the BAC, “Twelve Angry Men.” This production is being directed by Jeff Fast and produced by Jonni Moon. We have a great cast for this production. It is a wonderful mix of long time PPI actors and newcomers to the group. Performances of this production will be at the BAC in the Maizie Harris-Jesse Theater on May 11th, 12, 13th, 18th, 19th and 20th. Tickets for this production can be purchased at the Brewery Arts Center.

On May 12th at 2012, PPI will be holding auditions for their August production “Steel Magnolias” which will also be held in the Maizie Harris-Jesse Theater at the Brewery Arts Center. This production is being directed by Silver State Charter School drama teacher, Abbey Gardner.

CALL FOR PRODUCTION PROPOSALS: The current Board is working hard to continue building our production relationship with the BAC which includes producing more shows in the space they have available. PPI is now accepting proposals from prospective directors/producers for productions for our 2012-2013 Season. Proposals must be submitted to the Board by the May Board meeting. If you are an experienced director or have always wanted to try directing, we encourage you to select a play and submit a proposal to us. If your proposal is accepted, PPI will provide funding for the production, including sets, costumes, theater rental, and advertising. PPI is a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting high quality community theater in Carson City. Organized in 1965, PPI is the second oldest continuously operating theater company in Nevada. Over the years, our shows have been varied, to include drama, comedy, thrillers, musicals, old favorites, and the avant-garde. If you are — or know someone who might be — interested in participating in PPI’s 2012-2013 Season, please contact Jonni Moon at 775-883-9386 for more information.

NOMINATIONS FOR NEW BOARD OFFICERS: The Board terms for the positions of Vice President, Secretary and Member-at-Large will expire on June 30, 2012. If you are interested in serving on the Board in one of these positions, please attend the next Board meeting which will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 116 in the Cedar Building at Western Nevada College or contact Jonni Moon at 775-883-9386.

PPI IS MOVING THEIR ITEMS IN STORAGE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2012 AT 9:00 A.M. AND WE NEED YOUR HELP: For the past 3 years PPI has been storing their flats, costumes, props, set pieces, and sound and lighting equipment in 3 different locations. These locations were the Josten’s garage, storage units on Fairview Drive and in Carla Wilson’s barn. The Board is attempting to consolidate all of PPI’s items to one location while lessening the monthly costs of rental for storage. Carla Wilson has offered half of her barn to PPI for storage of all of these items. Carla’s barn is also equipped with lights and electricity and has space available for construction and storage of set pieces prior to the opening of a production. The Board has set the date Saturday, April 28th to make the move of PPI’s items in the storage units on Fairview to Carla’s barn. We will need to organize the items already in Carla’s barn and bring in all of the items from the 6 storage units we currently have. The more people we have the quicker this will go. Please do not leave this task solely up to the Board members. We could also use trucks and trailers to help us with this move. If you are available to help us on April 28th, please call Jonni Moon at 775-883-9386 and let her know. PPI will be provide lunch for the moving crew on this day.

Thank you again for all your support.

Antsy McClain & The Trailer Park Troubadours proudly celebrate the release of their newest musical project, Living The Dream, a collection of 17 new songs written and performed under the influence of life. Singer, songwriter, humorist and storyteller Antsy McClain has won the praise of Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Lindsey Buckingham, Tommy Smothers, cowboy poet Baxter Black, and many others. Most recently, his music has been heard in the film and television projects of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.

A small town philosopher Antsy McClain writes what he knows: The good life.

Staging his live shows from a small, fictitious trailer park called Pine View Heights (patterned after his own childhood surroundings and experiences), McClain is free from an over-abundance of material things and appreciates time with family and friends.

Sharing his mantra of “Enjoy The Ride,” McClain has won friendship and collaboration with some of the most talented musicians in the world. With such a wide circle of mentors like Waylon Jennings, Tommy Smothers, guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel and cowboy poet Baxter Black, it’s no wonder McClain marches to the beat of a different drum. And his influences don’t stop there. His live shows touch upon Country, Rockabilly, Jazz, Swing, and a number of Pop culture references.

McClain’s poetry, heart-felt ballads and humorous tales have garnered praise from such artists as Guy Clark, Willie Nelson, Lindsay Buckingham, and David Wilcox, to name a few.

After a Nashville record deal proved unfruitful in 1999, McClain took the reins himself and blazed one of the industries first fiercely independent campaigns, producing some of Americana’s most innovative projects, and cleverly relying on fan involvement (They call themselves Flamingoheads) to finance each album, and help promote live shows and events.

Before music found him, Antsy was an award-winning illustrator and designer for book and magazine publishers. As the DIY movement took hold, McClain was one of the first artists of note to not only record, mix and produce his own albums, but to serve as art director and designer for everything involving his music career; from CD package design to website design to merchandise. The band’s t-shirts are looked at as one-of-a-kind boutique item originals, often signed and numbered when sold.

When accused of being a control freak, McClain flashes a guilty look, but dissuades the dig by saying, “I’ve always just tried to save myself money. I was a self employed guy with five kids. We had an agreement that my wife was to be home while they were young, and it worked out great. But I didn’t have a thousand dollars to pay somebody for a logo. If I was going to have one, I’d have to do it.”

Calling himself “a life enthusiast,” Antsy McClain is eager to see what’s around every corner, and watches the horizon intently for each new change that takes place.

“My life is my art,” explains Antsy, “I am painting my life one day at a time, one brush stroke at a time. As I spend time with my wife and children, or as I go on the road toward new places to make new friends, as I write a new song, as I draw or paint something for people to look at and enjoy… This is my life, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share it with music, with words and with pictures.”

McClain looks out the window as a car whirs past, “I am enjoying the ride.”
