Painting: Acrylic, Oil and Watercolor (adults)

Students will work on their own projects and the instructor will help them complete their painting from start to finish. Students may choose which medium they want to work in (oil, watercolor, or acrylic). Students will supply their own materials. Morning or afternoon sessions are available.

Oil Painting (adults)

Oil painting instruction of any subject matter, any skill level in a friendly supportive and creative atmosphere. Morning or afternoon sessions are available.

Contemporary Watercolor/Acrylic Painting (all levels)

While the class will be informative, educational and fun, it will also provide a creative environment for the student to think, analyze and personally challenge one to go beyond simply painting pictures. A broad range of subject matter will be employed with teaching geared to individual skill levels. Pay teacher at time of class. Pastel Painting (adults)

Instruction in the use and application of pastel medium along with general art principles.

    Morning Open Studio: Pottery

    (ages 16-adult)

    Open Studio is for experienced students who have previously enrolled in at least one beginning pottery class and who want to use the studio for independent projects and skill development. An instructor is present to assist and answer questions, but no formal instruction or assignments will be given. Raku firings are scheduled when there is sufficient interest. Glazes and firing are included in tuition. Students must purchase their own clay.

              • Tuition: $50 month (Students must pay prior to the 1st class of each month.)

    Ballroom Dance Styles- (All ages-no partner necessary)

    Students learn fundamental skills in the various dance styles. An introductory class to ballroom dance designed as a fun introduction to ballroom dance in various styles, including but not limited to, Waltz, Tango, Swing, Foxtrot, Salsa and Cha-Cha. For drop in fee, please contact instructor. BAC Grand Ballroom. February 6th – March 26th, 2012. (11 weeks)

    Square Dance

    The Brewery Arts Center will host Beginner Square Dance classes on Wednesday nights starting May 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. No experience is required. Class is primarily for new beginners (ages 13 to adult) but brush-up’s and angels are welcome. Instruction will cover the same Basic, Mainstream and Plus program level as taught nationwide. Graduates will learn the necessary skills to dance comfortably at any square dance or event advertised at this level. There are many local clubs that sponsor regularly scheduled open dances at Mainstream/Plus and graduates will be encouraged to attend.

    Square dancing is enjoyed worldwide and is danced the same – in English – in all countries. It is a very popular and affordable activity that is both physically and mentally stimulating and offers an ever expanding circle of friends. Studies show that the physical and social aspects of square dancing greatly contribute to one’s health and longevity. Classes are weekly in the Grand Ballroom, 449 W.     West Coast Swing

    High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents a monthly dance party
    at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson
    City.

    There will be a lesson at 7 p.m., with the social dance at
    8-10:30 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any
    swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members
    of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers. Join the club that night, and

    Drop-In Karaoke Night – Idol Style! (No age limit)

    Come sing your heart out once a month in front of a panel of “Idol-style Judges!” (Don’t worry, no Simons allowed!)  Don your best outfit, bring your karaoke track or choose from a list provided, and rock out in front of friends and fellow participants.  This is a great way to work your audition material, try out the new song you just wrote or just come out and have some fun!  5:30 – 7:00

    Last Wednesday of the month, 5:30-7:00pm, June 27th, July 25th
    $5.00/drop in fee to participate, free to watch!

    “Just Gotta Sing” Private Voice Lessons

    Learn the “Technique of the Legends” right here in Carson City. Speech Level Singing (SLS), developed by Seth Riggs, makes singing as natural and easy as speaking. Riggs has coached hundreds of stars including American Idol runner ups David Archuleta and Adam Lambert. SLS produces an effortless, powerful and expressive voice. Mitzi Nelson will teach the technique here in Carson City.
